In this survey paper we focus on some requirements for de- veloping normative multi-agent systems (NMAS). In particular, we dis- cuss Boella et al.’s guidelines proposed for NMAS. Finally, we deal with two more specific questions concerning the role of norms in rule-based NMAS: the concepts of compliance and norm change.
