We present a tool, called Requirements Critic that performs a wide range of best practice analyses on software requirements documents. The novelty of our approach is its ability to perform a broad range of syntactic and semantic analyses, while allowing the users to write requirements in natural language. The crux of our syntactic analyses approach is based on using controlled syntaxes and user-defined glossaries to extract structured content about a requirements document. Semantic Web technologies are then leveraged for deeper semantic analysis of the extracted structured content to find various kinds of problems in requirements documents.
