| swrc:abstract | Recently many semantic information systems go beyond
individual systems towards networked systems. An important
architecture is the distributed scenario, where user queries get
passed between nodes to compute the answers to queries in a
distributed fashion. The paper addresses the complex setup where
ontologies used in such are heterogeneous and can be connected with
each other to form networked ontologies. We address the
problem to answer queries stated towards such networked
ontologies in a distributed manner. We present a novel algorithm
computing the answer to such queries that takes into account whether
the ontologies in the networked system are self-contained or coupled
with each other. Different query distribution strategies are used
for either case. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated and
proves to be favorable to our prior work. |
