We believe that the informal nature of the workshop, located at one of the major events on the Semantic Web, will lead to further exchange between practitioners and researchers working on these and other issues related to Semantic Web enabled software engineering by providing a forum for discussing the major challenges of the area and the different approaches being taken to resolve them. LOCATION:Unassigned URL: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Bridging the Gap between Semantic Web and Web 2.0 DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Vienna:20070607T090000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Vienna:20070607T180000 DESCRIPTION:The workshop is intended for researchers who analyze any kind of network like structure obtained either from a social environment, a collaborative environment or any kind of other Web 2.0 environment on the internet. One of the central topics will be the use of Social Network Analysis, machine learning and data mining methods to analyze underlying networks in the Web 2.0 data and thus create enhanced features known from the Semantic Web. The participants will come from the field of computer science, Semantic Web or Web 2.0 research groups. The primary goal of the workshop is to establish and enhance communication between these communities. In particular, we aim at bundling experiences and prototypes from the successful application of Semantic Web technology to BPM and PLM in various industries, like automotive, engineering, chemical and pharmaceutical products, and services domains. The particular focus is on deriving reusable best-practices from such experiences, and to yield convincing showcases of semantic technology. Indeed, work on OWL-S can be found both in industry and academia, and papers on or using OWL-S are presented in virtually all conferences on the Web, Semantic Web and Web services. This workshop aims at providing a place where practitioners can exchange their experiences with OWL-S. Furthermore, the workshop will provide a forum in which to discuss the further evolution of OWL-S in such a way that users and communities with specific interests can take charge in proposing changes to the ontology that they believe will be helpful. The topic of discussion will be centered around experiences in using OWL-S and the challenges of using OWL-S. Specific attention will be given to papers identifying aspects of Web services which cannot be modeled with OWL-S, with particular regard to the interaction with SAWSDL, and on ways to extend the language to address these needs. Papers on comparison and cross-fertilization with other approaches such as WSMO will also be welcome. Last years Scripting for the Semantic Web workshop in Budva, Montenegro focused on giving an overview about the support for Semantic Web technologies within scripting languages. The special focus of this year's workshop is the role of scripting languages in the process of populating the Web with linked RDF data as well as to showcase innovative scripting applications that consume RDF data from the Web. The second focus of the workshop is to show how Web 2.0 applications and mashups can benefit from Semantic Web technologies. The workshop will include a Scripting Challenge (conducted for the 2nd time) which will award a prize to the most innovative scripting application. Formal ontologies capture both a shared conceptualization of desktop data and personal mental models. RDF (Resource Description Format) serves as a common data representation format. These Semantic Web technologies are used to associate data from individual desktop applications and enable new views on the user's data better conforming to the user's mental model. Although the problem on the Web is similar to the one on the desktop, the architectural issues for the Semantic Desktop are not well investigated. A novel architecture is needed that integrates the services in an open framework: services such as lifting proprietary application data to semantic structures, routing data based on semantic information, semantic inter-process communication, and storing, retrieval, and linking of extracted meta-data. Therefore the Semantic Web community as well as the Software Engineering community are challenged to investigate this field and to come up with an architecture and middleware support for the Semantic Desktop. We encourage submissions on all topics related to ontology dynamics, including theoretical work on the issues involved directly or indirectly with change as well as applications or implemented systems related to such issues.
